Established in 1983, the Hamilton Poetry Centre works to support and encourage the writing and appreciation of poetry. Located in Hamilton, Ontario, the Hamilton Poetry Centre conducts workshops and hosts readings.


Welcome to the Hamilton Poetry Centre’s 2018/2019 Season

Hamilton Poetry Centre runs a monthly Workshop Series. This is a great opportunity to receive thoughtful peer feedback on your poems in progress.

In addition HPC sponsors Open Readings throughout the year! These are always fun evenings, and a great way to share your work. Everyone is welcome to attend and/or read. These events are FREE! Please check the readings section of this website for upcoming dates and locations.

Celebrate National Poetry week at the Hamilton Poetry Centre’s Poetry Palooza 7 p.m. April 25th at the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre. The evening will include readings and performances from award winning poets and musicians. Door Prizes. Cash Bar. (Note: There will not be an open mic at this event. Our Spring open reading will take place in May. Details to be announced soon.)
